Quick Relief - 2020 Video

This service enhancement of two GO lines can be operational in less than 18 months

Watch this 8-minute video and see how this simple service improvement on two GO corridors connected to the TTC’s network of subways and street cars can immediately provide relief on Lines 1 and 2.

Overcrowding on lines 1 & 2 is so bad commuters often wait as trains at capacity simply can not be boarded. The TTC has struggled to stay ahead of demand by implementing enhancements like Automated Train Control, ATC, and building new transit projects to relieve pressure will take many years.

Quick Relief is a project conceived by SRRA in 2015 as part of its overall research exploring what can be done to improve the lives of commuters long before major new construction of subways and other relief solutions are operational.

Quick Relief, utilizes surplus GO trains to run more frequently during peak hours to provide commuters heading to the Financial Core savings as much as an hour a day.

And instead of a separate fare riders can leave the TTC subway network and transfer to the GO network.. There are other benefits too. See how this - easy to implement project - can also pave the way for the planned new subway lines in the Region and create ridership opportunities within the existing network.
